In July 1941 through October 1944, the NH took delivery of 3,000 50-ton box cars of the 1937 AAR design with an IH of 10’-0” as follows:

Paint & Lettering: During the McGinnis era in 1956, the new CEO’s black block letter N over white block letter scheme on an orange car began to appear. And finally the ICC required the NH to move the data to the far right so to be seen while the door was open - a problem the NH was slow to enact so that most cars
remained as seen on this page into the 1960’s.
