Previous Return to list of all Gondolas and General Service Gondolas in 1:48 Scale Next DSS&A’s 42’ all steel gondolas - 1948 as-delivered scheme
The DSS&A received 100 cars of the 42’ all steel gondola. Built by Pullman-Standard in May 1949 under Lot 5939, and identical to the NC&StL design (P-S Lot 6380 April 1949), assigned road numbers as Series 4000-4099. While the NC&StL cars were equipped with Miner Power hand brake assembly, the DSS&A specied Ajax Power hand brakes. Both had Wine Lading tie-down ribbons on the top rail. The cars road on A-3 Ride-Control 50-ton trucks.
Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted boxcar red (TCP-200), and lettered with white stencil paste.
