lettering set for GN’s USRA boxcars - 1950’s side facing goat scheme

One of of the Mt. Vernon Series 23494-24993 order of 1919, GN 23866 has been repainted in GN’s White sh, Montana shops in August of 1962 using the 1950’s medallion along with square lettering reporting marks.
In 1923 the G.N. received 1,000 boxcars of the USRA design from Pullman-Standard Car Co. as Series 24994-25993. GN 25794 above has
been repainted with the 1950’s side facing goat and “RAILWAY” medallion in Superior, Wisconsin in September 1959.
Paint & Lettering: When new, car side painted G.N. Mineral Red, with roof, ends, truck sideframes and underbody painted black. Lettering all white stencil paste. Beginning in 1948, all repaints painted mineral red with just the underframe black. Lettering applied the all white side facing goat with a black center and the lettering ‘GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY. Look for Paci c Limited #900 as an accurate brass model of this car.
