In October of 1941, the Louisiana & Arkansas received 100, 50’ boxcars from Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company under Lot 5681. Identical to co-owned KCS’s Series 25100-25299 (PC-3720). Cars came with an 8’ side door with a one foot extension allowing for a 9’ opening. Construction was unique in that it employed a Pullman Patented flat panel riveted roof and Pullman Patented Corregated ends. Used in passenger service in the Southern Belle in L&A colors and numbered in Series 400-599, cars were equipped with steam lines and rode on Allied Full Cushion high speed
