In 1924, the Boston & Albany, a subsidairy of the New York Central Railroad, received 1,000 boxcars of the 1918 USRA design as adopted by the NYC. Built by
American Car & Foundry under Lot 9762, they were assigned to Lot 492-B and given reporting marks as Series 50000-50999. Note: in 1952, the cars were
assigned to the NYC and renumbered into Series 38000-38999.
