lettering for CP’s 36’ “Dominion” and 40’ boxcars - 1915-1960 lettering

The Canadian Pacic had a large fleet of 36’ single-sheathed boxcars - built between 1913 through 1915 - 33,428 to be exact. These cars were built by 10
dierent builders in Canada. During this period in Canada everything moved by rail. In 1945 there were 27,840 in revenue service, and some were still be to
found in revenue service in 1965, although some of these were stenciled ‘For Canadian Domestic Service Only”.
 
For 40’ single-sheathed boxcars, the CP basically adobted the USRA WWI design with some minor variations, and In 1920-21, acquired 3,500 of these as Series
230000-233499. The next were 4,500 cars as Series 234000-238536; both series with some still in revenue service into the 1980’s.
