Lettering for NP’s 36’ wood boxcars

Part Number: NP-1b

Price: $8.50

Built by Pressed Steel in 1903, the N.P. received 1,700 of these Class XM 36’ wood boxcars with the outside shbelly underframe arrangement.
Series were 37300-38999. In 1940, 500 were still in revenue service but by 1955 all were gone, although a handfull survived in MW
service into the middle 1970’s. There seem to be no photos other than the one above in it’s as-delivered lettering scheme, however it would
be reasonable to assume that by 1942 they would be repainted with the later standard boxcar lettering scheme NP applied between 1942 and
1948 which would include the 36” monad.

This lettering set is designed to allow the modeler to apply either the early as-delivered lettering or the post-1942 lettering scheme.

Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted NP medium red-brown: Tru-Color #193* (from AC&F paint chips for Dupont Dulux Brown, and Pillsbury
Car Hide Brown). Post 1942 cars received the red and black 36” monad herald. Lettering white stencil paste.

Lettering set designed and created at Protocraft Decals

Urethane kit for this car is available from Rails Unlimited

Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet
