lettering set for Pere Marquette 70-ton AAR flat cars

The PM received 350 AAR 70-Ton design at cars from builder Greenville Steel Car Co as follows:
 

Series 16500-16749, 250 cars, Greenville Steel Car Co., GSC O.O. 365 - delivered January 1943

Series 16750-16849, 100 cars, Greenville Steel Car Co., GSC O.O. 421 - delivered August 1944
 

Paint & Lettering: Car painted all black. Lettering white stencil paste. No end lettering.
 

Starting in 1953, these cars were slowely transfered to the C&O with 38 cars in January 1955, 51 cars in January 1957, 118 in 1958, etc. Series

numbers were maintained by adding a ‘2’ in front of the PM number. (see C&O 216557 over). Also, starting in late 1956, some of the PM and

C&O cars were converted to various types of special service such as automobile frames and highway trailers. Ed Hawkins
