lettering for ERIE’s 52’-6” Greenville drop-end gondolas

Price: $8.50

ERIE built 325 of their own 70-ton drop-end gondola cars using the Greenville design in October 1940, becoming the Frst railroad to have the Greenville
design cars. By 1952 the roster had 2,115 cars in service. Cars were delivered as follows:

Series 11000-11599, 600 cars, Bethlehem Steel Corp, DF 86, wood floor - delivered January 1946
Series 11600-11799, 200 cars, Bethlehem Steel Corp, DF 99, wood floor - delivered April 1947
Series 11800-12199, 400 cars, Greenville Steel Corporation, O.O. 581,  wood floor - side clip tie-down rings - delivered April 1952
Series 12200-12299, 100 cars, Greenville Steel Corporation, O.O. 581, wood floor - Interior tie-down rings - delivered April 1952
 
Paint & Lettering: When delivered cars were painted all black . All white stencil paste Roman lettering and black background medallion.
