52’-6” “Greenville Gondola" for the Nickel Plate Road

In July of 1944, the Nickel Plate received it’s first order of 50 of the “Greenville” gondolas from Greenville, under Office Order O.O. 419.  These were assigned road numbers Series 66000-66049. Cars came with Dreadnaught ends, Universal Lever Hand Brake, a 1-3/8” x 5-5/8” plank , hardwood floor, Wine door locks and 28 interior folding stake pockets.

(note: in March of 1949, the NKP received a large order of 400 cars of the same car from American Car & Foundry as Lot 3351, Series 67000-67399 - however this car had Ajax side mounted hand brakes, a steel floor, and IDN ends - so not the car modeled)
