Lettering for 1937 AAR design boxcars - with "Buy War Bonds" slogan

In January of 1937, the C&EI took delivery of 500 1937 AAR box cars built by General American Transportion Corporation. Assigned road numbers were 64000-64499. Cars were painted box car red with underframes and truck sideframes painted with black car cement. In the Buy War Bonds scheme shown on #64150 above, the car was reweighed at Danville, Illinois shops in June of 1942 (DV-6-42) and the slogan was added, painting over the company name.
