Between 1930 and 1941, the Pere Marquette received 550, 50’ double-door auto cars as follows: Series 71000-71249, 250 cars, Pressed Steel Car Company, Lot 5, delivered October 1930 - for automobile transportation - end doors (In late 1949 the PM was absorbed into the C & O and these cars were repainted and lettered for C&O and renumbered by adding a 2 before the PM numbers.) Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted freight car brown: TCP-221 (color for oxidation with TCP-179) Ends and underframe coated with black car cement. Early cars came with side doors painted black. Wheels unpainted. Decal set designed and created at Protocraft Decals Background color shown above is not included in decal sheet |
