Protocraft’s all-brass model of the Southern’s 1937 AAR 10’-0” IH design all-steel boxcars for Class A-22 with Miner Power hand brakes.. All in all, the Southern received 6,900 of the 1937 AAR design boxcars with the square corner 4/5 Dreadnaught ends and Chicago-Hutchins (Murphy) raised panel steel roofs. All came with wood running boards.
The intial group were delivered in October 1937 as Series 260500-262036, and 30600-307021. The second group began began in September 1938 with 10000-
14395.
In March 1954, 100 of these cars were passed on to Southern’s subsidairy Atlantic & East Carolina, a short-line road within North Carolina to transport tobacco to
the main interechange at Farmville. Decal sets are available for this subsidairy from Protocraft Decals.
Never before done in O Scale, these exquisite and highly detailed models are built by Boo Rim Precision of Korea using actual drawings.
