Lettering for Modifed 1937 AAR 10'-6" IH boxcars - from Alton

Price: $8.50

When the GM&O assumed control of the Alton Railroad in 1949, these cars were repainted and given GM&O reporting marks but retained the Alton series numbers. Five hundred cars were built for the Alton in April of 1945 by Pullman-Standard, Lot #5793, Series 52000-52499, and in May 1945, an additional 600 Modied boxcars were delivered from AC&F, Lot 2751, Series 52500-53099.( See Protocraft Decal sheet Alton MOD-1 for Alton lettering set.

Paint: Cars were painted red-brown (1 part Floquil #88 and 1 part Floquil 175) underbody and truck side frames painted black car cement. Wheels were unpainted and allowed to rust and gather a coating of axle grease.
