Paint & Lettering: Cars were delivered painted with C&O’s freight car brown: Matches TCP-921*. By the early 1950’s the cars were repainted with a dark oxide red: TCP-924*. This original color is very dark and needs to have a small amount of TCP-179 gray added to replicate normal oxidation. Ends were painted
black and some Lot’s came with black doors also.

Lettering was all white stencil paste. Reporting marks and road name were all 9” lettering. The ‘C and O for PROGRESS’ slogan did not appear until April 1948, and on the right hand side.

* TCP-901-929 are Protocraft Decals propietory colors mixed by TCP under the direction of Ed Hawkins and available at Protocraft

11014, built in February 1942, has been repainted with the new C&O Progress steam smoke slogan at C&O’s Holland shops in January, 1954
