Lettering for 40' autocars - 1942-50 scheme

The Pere Marquette received 100 40’ double-door auto cars from Ralston Car Co in August of 1941. These cars were assigned Series 93400-93499. (In late 1950’s the PM was absorbed into the C & O and these cars were repainted and lettered for C&O and renumbered by adding a 2 before the PM numbers.) Protocraft model # PC-3303

Paint & Lettering: Cars were painted a red-brown: TCP-921 up to 1942, and TCP-923 for 1946-1959, including truck side frames. Be sure to modify paint color for oxidation with TCP-179. The ends of car 83552 above were coated with black car cement, and probably the underframe as well. Wheels unpainted. Decal set created and designed at Protocraft Decals
