With the materials restrictions lifted at the end of the war, the SP ordered 17,500 new 1937 AAR design boxcars, again with 10’-0“ IH dimensions. This resulted in 5,100 new cars added to the T&NO eet by mid-1951. Cars were delivered in Class as follows:

Paint & Lettering: Car body and trucks (wheels unpainted) all SP boxcar brown: TCP-922 for 1936-1937; and TCP-923 for cars painted 1940-1959 - both SP and T&NO. Black underbody until 1945, then boxcar brown. Lettering white stencil paste with black medallion background with T&NO reporting marks until 1946. The use of the spelled out SOUTHERN PACIFIC was applied after 1946, but without the 1” line above it as it did with SP cars.
