In January-March, 1940, the ERIE received 700 1937 AAR design all steel boxcars. 500 from AC&F under Lot 1948, and 200 from Pullman-Standard, Lot 5605. Series 78500-79199. Protocraft used copies of original Pullman drawings supplied by the Pullman Library in Union, IL. Models were beautifully crafted by BooRIm Precision of Korea. Drawings used for the Viking corrugated roof were copies from the Chicago-Hutchins Corp. 4/5 Dreadnaught ends with round (W) corners. Youngstown corrugated steel doors with Camel fixtures, Ajax power hand brake, Royal-F Brake adjuster, Apex Tri-Lok running boards and 8-rung Wine ladders. Models roll on sintered steel rib-back wheels with ball bearings for easy rolling. National B-1 all brass trucks have working journal box covers. When delivered ends were coated with black car cement. Series 79000-79199 came with black doors as well as black coated ends. Protocraft Decals set ERIE-3a and ERIE-3b are correct for these cars.
